Biography
Ellie St George is an Artist living and working in Brisbane, Australia.
She has always had a strong interest in art from a young age. She grew up in Nelson, New Zealand where she studied Art and Photography at High School then went on to further study Art and Design at an Art Institute in Nelson. After her studies she then displayed and sold her work in a local cafe in Nelson, as well as holding successful exhibitions with her friend and fellow Artist. Her artistic talents are mostly self taught, but also runs in her family as her Grandmother worked as a Professional Artist and both her younger sisters are working and studying Interior and Graphic Design.
Her preferred medium is Acrylic paint, as she loves the brightness and vibrancy of the colours and it suits her realistic, contemporary style. She also has previously worked in Oils and Watercolour. She paints on stretched Canvas or stretched Linen as its texture is comfortable to work on and easily handled.
Ellie’s subject matter ranges from Landscapes, Silhouettes, Nature, Animals and Portraits. She generally bases her paintings on photos and spends many hours, in Australia and Overseas, capturing suitable photos to paint with her photographer partner. She is currently working on a ‘Beach Series’ mainly centred around one of her favourite places, the Beach. Ellie also get inspiration from her other life passions – her pets, nature, the outdoors, animals and photography. She works from her home studio which overlooks her tropical Queensland garden. In the near future she would like to travel around the world and bring those experiences back home and into her paintings.
